Located in north Glendale, Sierra Verde in filled into a mature neighborhood in the man made lake community of Arrowhead Ranch. The complete K-8 Elementary School is one of two ultimate model Deer Valley USD schools. The campus buildings from court yards that create activity areas and sense of neighborhood in a 850 to 1000 student campus. The campus arrangement also provides for an easy to manage security perimeter.

Kindergarten features an age appropriate activity and play area. First thru sixth grades surround two separate courtyards. The seventh and eights grades have their own courtyard along with their own PE locker rooms. Stetson Hills also includes music rooms as well as dedicated art, science, special needs and computer lab rooms. Circulation takes place under exterior cantilevered canopies for the most part. As a result almost all of the interior space is learning space.

The specialized accommodation includes a play booster for the primary grades and a separate play booster for the intermediate grades. All share the Multi Purpose turf play field as well as the Multi Purpose room, basketball court and stage. The Multi purpose room is able to be divided so that the schools kitchen can serve lunch in one half of the room while PE classes can take place in the other half.

Deer Valley insistence to use long lasting low maintenance construction led to the use of masonry walls and steel roof structure. The facility made use of high efficiency package air conditioning units which are easy to service. The administration building stands alone and acts as the controlled entry point and can be secured during off hours.

Finally, the family areas are very active in school programs. A room is dedicated for school volunteers. The drop off, pick up lane as well as parking areas are ample. Many of the students are within walking distance so the bus lane could be scaled down while pedestrian walkways reach out in every direction to provide direct access for the "walkers".

The project was financed with Arizona School Facilities Board as well as the Districts own supplemental bond funds. A shift in boundary required that the campus be constructed in 8 months.
